Robbers loot money and gold from UAE Gold Exchange branch

Six robbers today looted gold jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh, Rs 11 lakh in foreign exchange and Rs 1.5 lakh Indian currency from the UAE Gold Exchange branch in Bihar's Gaya district, police said.

The robbers entered the UAE Gold Exchange branch located at Nagmatia road area under civil lines police station and looted the valuables including cash and gold jewellery at gun point, the police said.

The robbers held Chandramohan, the branch manager of the firm, captive at gun point and looted Rs 11 lakh foreign currency, Rs 1.5 lakh Indian currency besides gold jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh, the police said adding that the criminals also damaged the CCTV before fleeing from the spot.
 

Senior Superintendent of Police Garima Mallick, City SP Avkash Kumar and other senior police officials reached the spot after the incident.

A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team will reach Gaya from Patna to collect samples for further investigation.

Police are conducting raids to nab the dacoits besides carrying out searches at all main entry and exit points of the city, the police said.
