Two minor children kidnapped from Pune and abandoned in Goa were reunited with their respective families today thanks to the efforts of Railway Protection Force (RPF).

The kids, both boys and aged nine years, were found at the platform No 2 of Margao railway station, about 50km from here, at around 10:30 pm yesterday by on duty RPF Constables D Manshing and Shivappa Rathod.

"They detained the children and brought them to RPF post at the station. On enquiry, the children revealed that some unknown persons had picked them from near their houses in Pune in a van. However, they had no knowledge how they came to Margao station," Konkan Railway Public Relations Officer Baban Ghatge said.

Both of them stayed in the same locality of Katraj area in Pune. Fortunately for the police, one of the boys could recall his father's phone number. The police called the worried father, who told them that his son had been missing since November 10, along with another boy from their area.

"Their parents had lodged missing complaints in Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station. The parents approached RPF office at Margao, where both the children were handed over to them after completion of formalities," Ghatge said.

"The timely action of RPF Margao enabled the kids to rejoin with their parents," he said.
