Burglars decamped with Rs 17.60 lakh in cash and some gold ornaments from the office of a chit fund company here, police said today.
The theft took place last night at the office of Sri Ram Chit Company Pvt Ltd located on Pithapuram Road.
Robbers gained entry into the premises by cutting iron grilles with gas cutters and broke open the locker, from where they stole Rs 17.60 lakh in cash and 224 grams of gold ornaments, they said.
Senior officials, including ASP Damodar, Sub- Divisional Police Officer S Venkateswerarao and crime wing DSP P Soma Sekhar visited the scene of offence.
Police have registered a case and investigation was in progress.
