Rs 22 lakh, 11 sovereigns stolen from house

Unidentified persons looted Rs.22 lakh and gold ornaments weighing 11 sovereigns from a house at Ponnaiahrajapuram in the city, police said.

The owner, who returned this morning after attending a two-day function elsewhere, found the front door of the house broken and money and jewellery missing from an almirah, police said.

Investigations are on, police added.
