Rs.46.70 lakh cash got by selling stolen laptops attached

Enforcement Directorate today said it has attached Rs.46.70 lakh cash received by a four-member gang by selling 339 laptops they had allegedly stolen from the airport cargo complex here.

Six pallets containing 341 laptops of Hewlett Packard India was allegedly stolen from the cargo complex here by four men-- Janakiraman, Ezhilarasan, Chelladurai and Premkumar-- and 339 were sold, an official release said.

Police seized Rs.46,70,000 from Chelladurai which was the remaining sale proceeds out of over Rs.57 lakh received by selling the laptops.

"The amount (Rs.46,70,000) was proceeds of crime concealed and projected as untainted money and, Enforcement Directorate provisonally attached it under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act," Joint Director, Enforcement Directorate, KSVV Prasad said here in the release.
