Rs 73 lakh in cash seized in last 10 days in Mathura

Over Rs 73 lakh cash, 3,500 litre liquor and 7.5 kg intoxicants have been seized here in the last 10 days since the model code of conduct came into force after the announcement of UP polls dates.

In-charge of district-level vigilance and monitoring committee, Ravindra Kumar said Rs five lakh in cash were today seized from a vehicle allegedly belonging to BSP leader Satya Prakash Kardam.

Over Rs five lakh were seized from four separate persons during checking of vehicles, Kumar said.

In the last 10 days, 2,300 people have been challaned in a bid to ensure free and fair polls. Over Rs 73 lakh cash, 3,500 litre of liquor and 7.5 kg intoxicants have also been seized here.
 

This information was provided by Senior Superintendent of Police Mohit Gupta in a meeting to discuss poll preparations with Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant and DIG Radhamohan.
