A 52-year-old Samajwadi Party leader was shot dead allegedly by unidentified persons at Nawabganj area here, police said here today.
Rama Shanker Yadav was shot by unidentified persons when he was walking outside his house at Alapur Bakshabagh locality here last night, they said.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he died during treatment, police said, adding investigation was underway.
Yadav had contested 2012 Assembly Elections on Congress ticket against the current Cabinet Minister, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya from Kunda seat.
