Sanitation workers decide not to go on strike

NDMC today assured a union of sanitation workers that it will release their salaries as soon as the funds are given by the Delhi government, following which the representative body decided not to go ahead with its strike from May 8.

North Delhi Municipal Commissioner Praveen Kumar Gupta said their grievances would be looked into on priority basis.

Gupta today met representatives of 'Swatantra Mazdoor Sanyukta Morcha' and assured them that salaries of sanitation workers would be released as soon as the funds are released by the Delhi government, the NDMC said in a statement.

"On getting assurance from the Commissioner, representatives of the union decided to call off their decision of going on a strike from May 8," it said.
