India's top men's squash player Saurav Ghosal has entered the semi-finals of the Montreal Open, a PSA world tour event, in Montreal.

According to information received here, Ghosal overcame Arturo Salazar of Mexico 11-8 9-11 9-11 11-4 15-13 in the quarterfinal match of the tournament, which the Indian is considering as a preparation for the Asian Championship here next month.

The Indian, who is the top seeded in the event, registered a comfortable first round win over a qualifier, again a Mexican Alfredo Avila 11-2 11-7 11-3.

Salazar, who had beaten an eighth seeded player, proved a tough customer.

Showing greater firepower around the court, the Mexican had the Indian in knots. However, Ghosal showed a lot of resilience to shut out his rival.

Ghosal will take on third-seed Omar Adel Meguid of Egypt next.
