Schools, colleges in Kashmir closed today due to rains

Authorities in Kashmir today closed all educational institutions in five districts of the Valley in view of the flood threat due to incessant rains.

All schools and colleges in five districts of Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian would remain closed today in view of the looming flood threat due to the rains, officials said.

These districts have been most affected due to the continuous rains for the past three days.

The district administration in Baramulla and Bandipora also ordered closure of all government and private schools till further orders.

The officials said the district administration in the remaining districts has been authorised to take a decision on closing the educational institutions in their respective districts.
 

Meanwhile, Kashmir University has postponed all examinations for today and has suspended class work in all its departments for two days in view of the inclement weather, the officials said.

However, they said, the offices shall remain open as usual.
