The 2nd India International Science Festival, backed by the government's Department of Science & Technology and RSS-linked Vijnan Bharati, kicked off in the national capital today.
The five-day event at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) here was inaugurated by Union Science and Technology minister Harsh Vardhan and his deputy Y S Chowdary.
More than 3,000 people and scientists are expected to attend the event, a statement here said.

"Any new and innovative idea will be appreciated and supported by our science department and the government. Let's learn science in a more creative way," Harsh Vardhan said.
The festival is showcasing outstanding achievements developed by Indian laboratories in the recent past.
The scheduled activities during the festival include Young Scientists' Meet, Scientific Workshops, a Science Village, Industry-Academia Interaction, International Science Film Festival, Mega Science Technology & Industry Expo followed by cultural programs and other activities.
The exhibition that will continue up to 11th of this month will cover information and ideas about many cutting edge technologies, scientific ideas in exciting fields in addition to display of innovative models by young students.
