Select copra drops in lacklustre trade

Copra rajapur Mumbai and copra edible Mumbai dropped in an otherwise lacklustre spices market here today on poor offtake from stockists and retailers.

Meanwhile, other spices held stable in the absence of any large-scale buying activities.

Copra rajapur Mumbai fell by Rs 500 per quintal to Rs 16,000 from Wednesday's close at Rs 16,500 and copra edible Mumbai went down by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 13,500 as against Rs 13,700 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs) with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 410/500 (410/500), ginger unbleached (per kg) 135 (135), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 12,000 (12,000), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 11,800 (11,800), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,000 (16,500), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 13,500 (13,700).
