Select grains up on increased demand

Prices of maize and bajra firmed upto Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following increased demand from consuming industries.

However, wheat and rice basmati remained steady on scattered buying support.

Traders said besides pick up in demand from consuming industries, lower arrivals from producing belts pushed up maize and bajra prices.

In the national capital, maize and bajra rose by Rs 20 and Rs 5 to Rs 1,225-1,230 and Rs 1,240-1,245 per quintal respectively.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,245-2,445, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,590-1,595, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,595-1,600, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 840- 860 (50 kg), Maida 915-925 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,020-1,050 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 9,500-10,200, Rice Pusa- (1121) new 8,300-10,100, Permal raw 2,125-2,175, Permal wand 2,225-2,325, Sela 2,750-2,800 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,240-1,245, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,420, white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,225-1,230, Barley 1,600-1,610.
