Prices of select pulses, led by urad, spurted by up to Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today largley on hoarding of stocks by stockists amid pick up in demand.
Marketmen attributed a steep rise in select pulses prices on paucity of stocks in the market following hoarding of stocks by stockists in anticipation of further rise in prices.
Besides, rising demand from retailers too gave push to surging prices, they said.

In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local spurted by Rs 500 each to Rs 10,100-12,400 and Rs 10,900-11,100 per quintal respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 11,000-11,600 and Rs 11,400-11,800 per quintal respectively.
Arhar and its dal dara variety also surged by Rs 200 each to Rs 8,900 and Rs 12,000-13,700 per quintal respectively.
Masoor small and bold shot up by Rs 250 each to Rs 5,600-6,000 and Rs 5,750-6,050 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality enquired higher by Rs 300 each to Rs 6,450-6,950 and Rs 6,550-7,050 per quintal respectively.
Rajmah chitra too soared by Rs 400 to Rs 5,550-6,850 per quintal.
