Seminar on business opportunities in India's solar sector held in China

More than 110 Chinese companies attended a seminar here on business opportunities in the solar sector in aimed at wooing Chinese manufacturers to invest in India, an embassy statement said today.

The seminar organised by the embassy of in in association with Solar Corporation of (SECI) was aimed at promoting Request for Selection Documents (RfS) project floated by among prospective Chinese investors.

It was attended by more than 150 delegates from more than 110 Chinese companies, financial institutions and banks.

Prashant Lokhande, (Economic & Commerce) said that the RfS was an immediate opportunity for Chinese solar manufacturers to invest in India.

Through RfS, a unique opportunity is offered to global solar companies for setting up 5 GW integrated manufacturing facility for manufacturing solar PV modules along with solar cells, silicon wafers and ingots, the statement said.

Sanjay Sharma, of gave a presentation about overall solar sector scenario of India, market size, opportunities and details about the RfS document.

Shi Limin, Standing Deputy Secretary General, CNECC and Jiang Hua, at CPIA appealed to the Chinese investors to grab this immediate opportunity in solar sector and invest in India, the statement said.
