Seventy Fishermen arrested

Seventy fishermen, who ventured into the sea from Karaikal and Nagapatinam in their mechanised boats, were today arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy while fishing in the Palk Straits on charges of crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line, official sources said.

The Lankan Navy arrested the fishermen when they were fishing near Neduntheevu and Pulmoodai, which came under their fishing zone, Subburaj, Joint Director, Fisheries Department said quoting information received from the island nation.
