A 45-year-old man allegedly hurled a shoe at Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda during a public meeting in Dabwali town, some 45-km from here, today but it fell short of the target.
Hooda was addressing a gathering after the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a railway over-bridge when Raja Ram, aged 45, allegedly tossed the footwear at him, police said.
The shoe landed near the stage, they said adding Ram, a farmer and a resident of Nathusari village in Sirsa, had been taken into custody.
Ram, who was sitting behind the press gallery, shouted slogans before he was whisked away by police.
The incident happened soon after the Chief Minister had begun his speech, police said.
Caught off-guard, Hooda discontinued his speech but resumed it later.
On February two, a youth had allegedly slapped Hooda during a roadshow at Panipat.
