Shop owner sent to two years in jail for power theft

Coming down heavily on power theft, a Special Court of Electricity has sentenced a shop owner in West Delhi to two years of rigorous imprisonment.

The court also slapped a hefty fine of Rs 7.1 lakh on the shop owner for stealing electricity.

Gift shop owner Raj Kumar was sentenced by Special Court of Electricity, Dwarka for stealing over 12 KW of electricity by tampering his meter.

A vegetable vendor in East Delhi has also been sent to to six months in jail for power theft by the court, which also slapped a penalty of Rs 1.14 lakh on him, according to a BSES statement.
