Silver anklets stolen from manufacturing unit

Silver anklets, totally weighing 37-kg and worth Rs 18 lakh, were stolen today from a silver anklet manufacturing unit here, police said.

The theft came to light when the owner found the the door of the unit broken open in the morning.

The owner had employed eight youths from Uttar Pradesh at the factory, and two of them, Raj Tilak and Popan( both aged 22) had allegedly stolen the anklets and escaped, police said.

Meanwhile, in another case, Rs.6.14 lakh was stolen from the government exhibition at the Salem Bose grounds and an electrician operating the 'giant wheel' arrested in this connection.
 

The money, the collection for a week, has been seized.

The electrician had buried the money near the spot where the Giant Wheel was being operated, police said.

He has been remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
