As many as 4,290 assurances given in the Maharashtra Assembly have remained unfulfilled over the last 27 years, as per a committee of the legislature.
Out of the total 47,252 assurances given since 1991, 42,962 assurances were fulfilled,said a report of the Assembly Assurances Committee for 2017-18.
It was presented during the current winter session.
In 2018, 343 assurances were given in the Budget session, of which none has been fulfilled, the report said.
The government is supposed tofulfil an assurance given on the floor of the house within 90 days.
The committee, which has representatives of all parties as its members, recommended that the responsibility for not fulfilling promises without any valid reason should be fixed.
