Father of the teenaged Bangladeshi girl, who was allegedly killed in firing by BSF personnel in January 2011, deposed before its special court in Coochbehar district today amid tight security.

Besides the girl Felani Khatun's father Md Noor Islam, her maternal uncle Abdul Hanif too deposed before the court at Sonari BSF camp.

D A Sandhya, DIG of BSF Coochbehar said Felani's father and maternal uncle deposed in the court where their lawyer Abraham Lincoln was also present.

The proceedings were not open to the media.

Felani (15) was killed when she along with others was allegedly trying to illegally cross over to Indian territory at the Khitaberkuthi border in Coochbehar district's Dinhata police station, BSF sources said.

She was trying to cross over the barb wire fencing using a ladder when thick fog had engulfed the area.

The BSF had began a trial in the case on August 13 following demands for justice from Felani's family and some human rights organisations in Bangladesh in connection with the incident.

Felani's father and uncle came to India through the Changrabandha immigration checkpost yesterday accompanied by a Dhaka High Court lawyer and a Bangladesh Border Guards official.
