The Centre has declared Saryu canal project as a national project and given its consent for the same for Sharda Sahayak project, he said.

Efforts are underway to complete these projects on time. This will result in increase in irrigation area in districts like Bahraich, Gonda, Siddharth Nagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, Sitapur, Sultanpur and Allahabad among others, and would be the start of the green revolution, the minister claimed.

In a bid to ensure the availability of international- level irrigation facilities in the state, support has been sought from ISRO and other national-level consultants, he said.

The Bansagar canal project, which could not be completed during the previous Mayawati government, would be finished in the next two years, providing relief to farmers of the area, he added.
