Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today appreciated the Chhattisgarh Assembly's rule providing for automatic suspension upon entering the well of the house, and said she would consider if the Lok Sabha should have it.

She was speaking as the chief guest at the launch of a two-day orientation program for Chhattisgarh MLAs here.

"I will think of enacting a rule for Lok Sabha on the lines of the rule of Chhattisgarh Assembly which provides for automatic suspension of any member on entering the well of the house," Mahajan was quoted as saying in an official release.

She also urged the MLAs to attend the house regularly and raise people's issues.

"The legislators should understand the difference between speeches delivered in the house and those made outside. A member should know the duties along with the privileges," she said, according to the release.

Speaking on the occasion, Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal said, "Better understanding of parliamentary conduct and proceedings could help members in effectively discharging their duties as well as redressing public grievances.
