Special court to deal with protesters during Par session

A judicial officer of the district courts here has been appointed on "special duty" to deal with possible cases in the event of arrests of demonstrators during the ongoing Parliament's monsoon session.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ashok Kumar of the Patiala House district courts here has been deputed for this with effect from August 5 till the conclusion of the ongoing Parliament session.

"... Ashok Kumar, Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House Courts...Is hereby deputed to work as Metropolitan Magistrate on special duty with effect from August 5, 2013 onwards till the end of forthcoming sessions of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for the trial and disposal of cases of demonstrators who may be arrested during the 14th session of 15th Lok Sabha and 229th session of the Rajya Sabha in accordance with law," a circular issued from office of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidya Prakash said.
 

The circular also said that the magistrate on special duty may hold his court even outside the district courts complex.

"The Metropolitan Magistrate (Ashok Kumar) may hold his court on holidays, outside the Patiala House court premises, after court hours and also during court hours," it said.

The monsoon session had commenced on August 5 and is scheduled to conclude on August 30.
