Special security arrangements have been made in market areas and other crowded places across Haryana in view of the upcoming Diwali festival, a senior police official said today.
DGP S N Vashisth today said that senior officers of the police department have been directed to remain alert in view of the festival season.
The Director General of Police, who was interacting with senior police officials via a video conference link here, said that special arrangements have been made to ensure safety in markets and other crowded places.

"Apart from putting barricades, patrolling would also be conducted so as to effectively regulate traffic and avoid any untoward incident. The Police Control Room vans as well as night patrolling would also be pressed into service," he said.
Adequate arrangements would be made to curb incidents of robbery, Vashisth said, adding that police officials have been directed to remain vigilant about safety of women during the festival season.
Special arrangements would be made to check for explosive substance in crowded places, he said.
The DGP said that directions have been issued to police officers about the storage and sale of fire crackers by license holders only.
Police department would also maintain coordination with the fire department, he added.
Apart from this, concerned SPs have been asked to maintain coordination with Chief Medical Officers to tackle any untoward incident and provide immediate medical relief to the victims.
The DGP also reviewed law and order situation during the meeting.
