Spl drive against encroachment on city roads

Delhi Traffic Police today launched a special drive against encroachment on roads, service roads and pavements by roadside vendors, hawkers, unauthorised street food joints and others.

As part of an initiative to ensure smooth and safe flow of traffic, police identified 11 vital corridors - Wazirabad Road, Vikaspuri, Captain Gaur Marg, Aurobindo Marg, Najafgarh Marg, Rohtak Road, GT Road, Vikas Marg, Ring Road (from Maharani Bagh to AIIMS chowk) and Ring Road (from Model Town-3 to Civil Lines) and Road No. 41 (from Wazirpur bus depot to Rithala).

During the first day of the special drive, action was taken against encroachment and unauthorised parking of vehicles on three roads - Vikas Puri, Road No. 41 and Vikas Marg.
 

"A total of 263 temporary structures were demolished and removed. Besides, 193 vehicles were challaned and 111 vehicles removed. 17 other vehicles were towed away and impounded," Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla said.
