Sugar drops on lower demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar dropped at the Vashi wholesale market today due to lower demand from stockists and retailers amidst adequate supplies.

Medium sugar (M-30) fell by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 3,200/3,382 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 3,250/3,382.

Small sugar (S-30) also dipped by Rs 40 per quintal to Rs 3,102/3,202 as against Rs 3,142/3,202 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,102/3,202 (Rs 3,142/3,202.

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,200/3,382 (Rs 3,250/3,382).
