Sugar firm-up on rising demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar firmed-up further at the Vashi wholesale market here today following rising demand from stockists and exporters amid higher millers offtake.

Medium sugar (M-30) advanced by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 3,076/3,202 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 3,062/3,192.

Small sugar (S-30) also went up by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 2,992/3,082 as against Rs 2,992/3,072 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,992/3,082 (Rs 2,992/3,072).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,076/3,202 (Rs 3,062/3,192).
