Press Trust of India New Delhi
Sugar registered a significant rise of Rs 100 per quintal in its prices at the wholesale market in the national capital today mostly after demand from bulk consumers and retailers picked up.

Furthermore, check in supplies at prevailing levels by mills too supported the persistent rise in the sugar prices.

Marketmen said revival of demand from bulk consumers, including soft drink and ice-makers, triggered by beginning of summer season, attributed steep rise in sweetener prices.

Besides, fall in supplies from mills at prevailing levels too influenced prices, they added.

Prices have gone up by over Rs 150 per quintal in the three straight days.
