Sugar weakens on subdued demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar, small and medium extended its fall, with medium sugar down by Rs 30 per quintal at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to subdued demand from stockist and retailers on the back of adequate supply position.

Medium sugar (M-30) dropped by Rs 30 per quintal to Rs 2,552/2,742 from Monday's closing level of Rs 2,582/2,742.

Small Sugar (S-30) eased by another Rs 6 per quintal to Rs 2,440/2,602 as against Rs 2,446/2,602 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,552/2,742 (Rs 2,582/2,742).
 

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,440/2,602 (Rs 2,446/2,602).
