Taxi driver arrested for trying to sexually assault minor girl

A taxi driver was arrested here today for allegedly trying to sexually assault a two-year-old girl at nearby Tirupur.

Police said Murugesan took the girl, his neighbour, to a temple in Vijayapuram area with the permission of her parents.

As the child continuously crying after returning from the temple, the parents took her to a hospital, where doctors informed them that an attempt had been made to sexually assault her.

Based on a complaint by the child's father, Murugesan was arrested, police said.
