: The Telangana government said on Friday that it plans to set up a 'Furniture Park' exclusively for furniture making and related industries in about 100 acres on the outskirts of the city.
Speaking at the first anniversary of Ikea stores here, Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, Industries and IT, said the government has sought the Swedish furniture makers participation in the proposed Park.
"The Telangana government is setting up a dedicated industrial Parkor Industrial Estate for furniture manufacturing, called Furniture Park, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, spread over 100 acres.
Ranjan said the government can allot space in the Furniture Park and special enclave in the park to Ikea suppliers if they could bring in their suppliers in Europe or anywhere else and explain to them about the incentives and support offered by the Telangana government.
Ranjan told PTI that four to five manufacturers have already evinced interest in setting up their units in the park.
He also requested Ikea India Chief Executive Officer Peter Betzel to help promote products such as world renowned Nirmal paintings from Telangana in the global market.
