Prohibitory orders were promulgated today as tension prevailed in parts of the city after miscreants pelted stones on vehicles and commercial buildings after a youth succumbed to stab wounds following a scuffle, police said.
The incident happened as relatives of the youth, who succumbed to stab injuries, sustained yesterday, at KLE hospital here was taking the body back home, police said.
Three buses of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and a few private vehicles were damaged in the incident, police said. Commercial establishments remained closed.
As a precautionary measure, prohibitory orders were clamped at Angol, Tilakwadi and adjacent areas in Belgaum, officials said.
Belgaum Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao said the situation is tense but under control.
