Three arrested for the death of woman

Three persons were arrested today on charges of the murder of woman, while attempting to snatch chain from her a few days ago in the city.

A motor cycle borne gang had dashed against the 37-year old Meenaskhi, who was going home with her son on a moped, resulting in her fall on the road, with serious head injuries.

The incident occured on the night of November 18, when one of the persons made a futile attempt to snatch the chain, as public thwarted their bid, as the woman-son duo raised alarm to attract the passersby.

Meenakshi died at the Government hospital the next day.
 

A special police team formed to trace the gang, intercepted a motor cycle last evening and during investigation, they confessed to have committed the crime, police said.

Based on the confession of the accused identified as Nawasudeen, Anwar Sathick and Mohammed Salam, police recovered 28 sovereign of gold chains valued at rs. five lakh, which they have snatched at various place in the city.

All the three were produced before the Judicial court and remanded to custody.
