Four members of a gang allegedly involved
in human trafficking were arrested and three girls freed from their clutches, the police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of Suresh Kumar, and freed the three girls, while four persons were arrested, Superintendent of Police (rural) Shubhasg Chandra Shakya said.
"Among the three girls, two are minors and had left their homes as they were upset over some issues. One of the girls is from Barabanki, one from Lakhimpur Kheri and another is from Sonbhadra.
"One of them was already 'sold' to a person in Jahanabad, while the gang members were preparing themselves to sell the remaining girls," he said.
The arrested persons have been identified as Suresh Kumar, Gajendra Kumar, Virendra and a woman member Dharmshila.
The three girls have been sent for medical examination.
