Three jewellers, who used to buy stolen ornaments from a gang of snatchers, have been arrested, police said here today.

The arrested have been identified as Deepak Verma, Naushad Ali and Anil Vats alias Choti.

The trio were arrested after getting inputs from the snatchers Nitin, Akshay and Rahul, who were held last Sunday, police said.

"Keeping in view the involvement of organised crime syndicate, provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) are likely to be initiated against these people," Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.

"Deepak was arrested on Wednesday from his shop in Noida. He used to purchase stolen jewellery from Nitin and Akshay at 40 per cent of the rate in open market. He had purchased about eight gold chains and four gold bangles. One stolen gold necklace has been recovered from him," said a senior police officer.

"Naushad and Anil were arrested on Thursday from Palam. One stolen gold chain and a gold bracelet were recovered at his instance," he said.
