Three more defence witnesses today recorded their evidence in the disproportionate asset case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in a special court here.
With this, the evidence of a total of 21 defence witnesses had been recorded. There are a total of 41 witnesses as per the interim list provided by the defence.
Special Public Prosecutor Bhavani Singh cross examined three of the defence witnesses. So far he had cross examined six defence witnesses.
Special Judge M S Balakrishna adjourned the trial to March 8 for further recording of defence witnesses and cross examination.
The case relates to alleged accumulation of wealth of Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate to her known sources of income when Jayalalithaa was the Chief Minister for the first time from 1991 to 1996. It was transferred from a Chennai court to Bangalore by the Supreme Court in November, 2003 on a petition by DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan.
