Three Nepali nationals were today arrested by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on the Indo-Nepal border with 5.8 kilogram of charas, estimated to be around Rs 12 lakh in the international market, a senior officer said here today.
Manoj Kumar, Ram Janam Chauhan and Rajendra Rajbhar native of Nawalparashi district in Nepal were arrested from Thotibari road under Nautanwa police station near the Indo-Nepal border while they were trying to smuggle the contraband, SSB Commandant B S Bankhothi said.
"The three work for a Nepal-based gang involved in smuggling contraband in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand and other states," he said.
Another member of the gang managed to escape and a hunt is on to to nab him, he said.
