Three persons struck dead by lightning

Three persons died in rain-related incidents in the district, police today said.

A 22-year-old woman was struck dead by lightning at Tharamangalam while a 75-year-old woman and her six goats were charred to death when lightning struck them at Theyur last evening.

A 36-year-old man died when he came in contact with a live electric wire that had snapped from a post.

At Omalur, 30 goats were charred to death when lightning struck the animals which were fenced in a pen, police said, adding, two cows were killed similarly at Poosaripatty.
