TMC pricks BJP on allegations against Amit Shah's son

Press Trust of India  |  Kolkata

The today took a swipe at the BJP, wondering if it would now use or ED to probe the allegations against chief Amit Shah's son, just as it has been quick to use these agencies against other political parties.

"ever so quick to use CBI/ED against other political parties. Why not now when it comes to one of their own; son of their party president? Media now needs to be fearless," Derek O'Brien, TMC Parliamentary Party leader in the Rajya Sabha, said in a statement.

O'Brien's statement came as several opposition parties demanded a probe into claims in a media report that a company owned by chief Amit Shah's son saw a massive rise in its turnover after the BJP came to power in 2014.

The charge was rejected by the BJP and Shahs son, Jay Amit Shah, who termed the story false, derogatory and defamatory.
