In a swift action, police rescued a one-year-old boy, who was allegedly kidnapped while sleeping with his parents on a pavement here, and arrested two women in this connection.
The women, who were part of a gang had lifted the child with the intention to sell him, police said today.
The toddler was found missing by his father in the wee hours of Saturday, they said.
Following a complaint, a special team was formed and the child was rescued yesterday.
Based on the inputs provided by a bus driver and an auto driver, the team intensified their probe around a nearby locality and managed to trace the child.
They apprehended two women in connection with the abduction, police said adding they are on the lookout for one more woman involved in the crime.
