TPC 'area commander' shot at and injured by rival faction

An 'area commander' of a Maoist splinter group Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) was today shot and wounded by a suspected shooter of a rival faction in Hazaribagh district, police said.

Vishwanath Ganjhu of the TPC was watching orchestra at a marriage ceremony at Bundu panchayat when the shooter fired at him at around 2 AM, Superintendent of Police Manoj Kaushik said.

Ganjhu who suffered gunshot wounds has been admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences at Ranchi by his supporters, the SP said adding, police has placed him under arrest at the hospital.

"He is stable and as soon as his condition improves he will be brought to Hazaribagh for interrogation," he said.
 

The shooter who fired at Ganjhu managed to escape the SP added.
