Tribals at Pooh in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh rejoiced as the town received season's first rainfall, bringing relief to people who were struggling to meet their water requirements for drinking and irrigation.
Rains are a rare phenomenon in 'cold desert' of Pooh which normally remains dry.
President of Pooh Panchayat Sushil Sana said Pooh, Leo, Nako, Malling, Hango, Chulling, Khab, Namgya and Tashigang along the Tibet border received rain for nearly two hours yesterday, which was boon for Apple, Peas and other cash crops.
President of Hango Panchayyat said the rain has come as a big relief as people were forced to purchase water tankers because natural sources of water had almost dried due to less snowfall during the winters.
