Floral tributes were paid to Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai on his 85th death anniversary here today.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh led the people in garlanding the statue of Lala Lajpat Rai at Scandal Point, renamed as Lajpat Rai Chowk.
Singh said Lala Lajpat Rai was a great freedom fighter and revolutionary who made supreme sacrifice for freedom of the country.
The statue of Lajpat Rai was brought to Shimla from Lahore after partition and installed at Scandal Point in the heart of the city.
Prominent citizens and representatives of social, religious and educational institutions also garlanded the statue of Lala Lajpat Rai.
