Turmeric prices were down 1.44 per cent to Rs 7,952 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions, triggered by increased arrivals in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in July month eased by Rs 116, or 1.44 per cent to Rs 7,952 per quintal with an open interest of 6,510 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June contracts traded lower by Rs 92 or 1.15 per cent to Rs 7,924 per quintal in 26,045 lots.
Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders, tracking low demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly kept pressure on turmeric prices at futures trade.
