Two arrested for illegally lifting sand from Yamuna in UP's Shamli

Two men were arrested for alleged illegal lifting of sand from the Yamuna river in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said.

Sabir and Ankit were arrested for illegally lifting sand from the river in Fatehpur village of the district Tuesday night, they said.

A JCB machine and seven tractors were seized, police said.

Station House Officer Sushil Dube said a case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the other accused.
