Two bikers were killed when their bike collided head on with a sand laden truck on NH 34 today.
The incident occured at Fuliapara, a police officer said adding the truck driver had been taken into custody and the truck seized.
Bindu Halder (23) and Bappa Halder (26) of Shantipur - Kalipur were crossing Fuliapara on a bike. A truck was coming from Ranaghat from the opposite direction. The bike collided head on with the sand laden truck killing both the riders on the spot, police said.
The officer said both the riders were drunk and a wine bottle and glasses were recovered from them.
While both victims were day laborers, Bappa who was working outside the state, had returned home for a few days, the officer added.
