Two NDFB(Songbijit) women
cadres, three wood smugglers and four bike lifters were nabbed by the police from separate places in Kokrajhar district of Assam last night.
The two NDFB(S) women cadres identified as Ansuri alias Ansu Narzary and Rekha Mushahary were nabbed from Theka Bazar area under Kachugaon police station, district Superintendent of Police Shyamal Prasad Saikia told reporters today.

An amount of Rs one lakh and one mobile handset with SIM card were also recovered from their possession, Saikia said adding, they collected the money through extortion from various businessmen and other targets of the outfit.
The money was to be handed over to B Bidai, vice president of NDFB(S), which was using the two women cadres as couriers in its extortion racket, the SP said.
The police also apprehended three wood smugglers with a huge quantity of illegal timber following an operation at Bishmuri, Serfanguri, Karigaon and Patgaon areas against illegal tree felling and timber smuggling.
During the operation 21 sal logs, huge amount of ready logs and two vehicles were seized from the smugglers, he said.
A high level meeting on eviction of illegal encroachers from forest areas in Kokrajhar district was held here today chaired by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Madhab Prasad Sharma with the SP, all Divisional Forest Officers in the district and other senior Police, Forest and civil officials.
The Police also arrested four bike lifters from Kachugaon Forest Tiniali area under Kachugaon police station, Saikia said adding, recently six bike lifters were arrested from different parts of the district and ten stolen bikes were recovered.
