Two police officers suspended

Sub-Inspector Rajesh Gupta and Assistant Sub-Inspector Nizamuddin, who were posted at Jangipur police station, have been suspended after they assaulted a woman of Mohammedpur village yesterday, officials said.

The incident took place when the police went to control a situation erupting out of the quarrel over a piece of land,the police said.

The angry villagers later chased the policemen and threw stones at them.

Superintendent of Police Humayun Kabir has visited the spot and the situation is back to normal now.
