Two Sabarimala pilgrims killed in road mishap

Two Sabarimala pilgrims were killed and four others injured when their van rammed into a road side tree after hitting a lorry at Vellimukku in Malappuram district in the wee hours today, police said.

The deceased, identified as Sathish Kumar (49), Anup (29), were part of the six member team of pilgrims returning from the temple, police said.

The injured have been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College hospital, they said.

Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident and instructed officials to ensure adequate medical treatment of the injured.

Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and other public representatives from the Adilabad district interacted with relatives of the deceased at the hospital where the bodies were kept.
 

Harish Rao said he has spoken to Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan over the mishap. "The relatives of the deceased want to conduct the last rites in Adilabad itself," he said.
